Bizzy Tots premises at Long Itchington

Church Road is a quiet village road in Long Itchington with the nursery located inside the former Church of England First School (location map). It is a safe area opposite the parish church. Obviously, the premises were specifically designed for young school children until closure and a move to new premises. Since then it has been specially re-designed for nursery purposes and adapted accordingly. The nursery is very spacious with large separate rooms for toddlers and pre-school children and a separate kitchen and dining area. Other large rooms are available for activities, wet play, and song and dance. The nursery has a large playground and separate fenced and grassed play area.

Safety and security

The nursery premises are fenced and hedged with a large five bar gate marking the main entrance from the road. Access is gained via the side entrance well away from the road. A member of staff is on duty to ensure that entrance doors remain secure and that all visitors are challenged and recognised before being allowed access to the children. A record of each child's times of attendance is kept and no child is allowed to be collected by someone we don't know, even if the child does. Throughout the nursery we have an open door policy that allows parent to see into the rooms, however children's safety gates are in position for children under the age of 3 years.

The main nursery entrance also benefits from a CCTV camera ensuring safe monitoring of callers.

Transport and parking

Parents are able to park with safety and ease outside the nursery school and walk/carry their children the short distance to the main entrance. Any outings would only be carried out with the express permission of parents and under the strictest supervision regime.

Accommodation at Bizzy Tots Long Itchington is divided into these sections:

Baby Barn up to menu

Bizzy Tots Baby Barn is located in a completely safe and rural setting some 400 yards from the Leamington Road, at the western entrance to Long Itchington Village.  The unit accommodates 30 babies up to the age of 18 months with a staff ratio of 1 to 3.  It is located in a brand new barn conversion, surrounded by a walled courtyard and fields.  It provides a spacious and clean country setting for baby care. There is a separate area for babies sleeping and a separate kitchen.

The baby unit is part of the larger Bizzy Tots Day Nursery situated in Church Road, Long Itchington allowing babies to eventually progress into the main toddler and pre-school sections of the nursery.

You will receive a daily diary for your child to take home. This is a two-way communication method. Over the first few weeks your child will be having settling-in sessions that fit in with the days that they attend Bizzy Tots.

On your child's first day at the Barn you will be invited to come into the room, relax and have a good look around. Your child will have a name peg where you can hang their belongings. You can help your child to settle into an activity on offer, stay for a while and when you feel able to do so, say goodbye. On return to the Baby Barn at the agreed time we suggest you have a chat about the session with your child. Your child's bag will be packed ready for home.

The initial routine will change as your child becomes comfortable with the nursery environment.

Tweenies up to menu

The Tweenie Room is a small but warm, safe and fun environment for children aged 18 months to 20 months (this is a guide as children are assessed individually on abilities when moving rooms).

The Tweenie Room can take up to six children with a ratio of 1:3 and throughout your child's time here they will be offered a wide range of stimulating activities as well as outdoor time and singing with Keith the Music Man.

The Tweenie Room also works closely with Big Ts and share opportunities to do activities within their room.

Big Ts up to menu

The Big Ts room is situated in what is known as the "orange walkway" through the double doors in a spacious room with stimulating activities on offer for children aged 20 months to 2 years (this is a guide as children are assessed individually on abilities as to when they move rooms).

Big Ts has up to 15 children with a ratio of 1:3 and has lots of fun themes to follow as well as outdoor activities and singing sessions with Keith the Music Man.

Toddlers up to menu

The Toddler Room is a large room with more structure and plenty of free choice activities available for children aged 2 to 2 years 10 months (this is a guide as children are assessed individually on abilities when moving rooms).

The Toddler Room houses up to 16 children with a ratio of 1:4 as well as offering stimulating activities, outdoor play, Keith the Music Man and many more opportunies.

Within Toddlers we work towards small group tasks, colours, shapes and numbers as well as being able to take part in the Mobile Library and Jo Jingles.

Once the children move into this room, daily sheets will no longer be used. This can be hard to adjust to at first, however outside the room you will find a board for nappies, wipes, sleeps, food and a list of activities offered during the day.

Pre-school 1 up to menu

Pre-School 1 is the final room in the main nursery building where we are working on social skills and the children's confidence.

The Pre-School 1 room takes children aged 2 years 10 months to 3.5 years with a ratio of 1:4 (this is a guidance age as we move children on an assessed individual basis).

In Pre-School 1 we collect evidence for the assessment booklets that record events and activities that you child takes part in during their time at Bizzy Tots.

Within the room we offer the children stimulating activities as well as opportunities to visit the mobile library, singing with Keith the music man and other fun activities.

All the planning and topics covered can be found outside the room.

Pre-school 2 up to menu

Pre-School 2 is situated through our dining room at the rear of the nursery building. It is a large, calm and fun environment for children aged 3.5 years onwards with a ratio of 1:8 (this is a guidance age as children are assessed individually on their development as to the exact time that they move).

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for easy transition into school and your child's key worker will complete an assessment folder which may be viewed at any time.

We take time to build on the children's social skills, group work, confidence and early letter formation. The children have transfer profiles for easy transition into school.

We offer extra-curricular activities that include trips related to topics, ballet, football coaching (run by the manager of Leamington Football Club), Boogie Bugs, French lessons run by "Parrots", mobile library and a Graduation party when they leave for pastures new.
